COVID-19 Update

Alert Level 1

Updated 17 June 2020

Under Alert Level 1, people within New Zealand are able to travel and mix more freely. However, it’s more critical than ever that our borders are carefully controlled to keep COVID-19 out.

Any new COVID-19 cases that enter the country would be able to spread more quickly now that people are moving around.

People entering New Zealand must stay in managed isolation or quarantine for at least 14 days and test negative for COVID-19 before they can go into the community.

Some people may apply for an exemption from managed isolation in exceptional circumstances, but they should apply before they leave their own country.

Exemptions are rarely granted, and you should not expect that your application will be approved.
